The “Painting In Tongues” body of work represents a desire to work loosely and spontaneously with an emphasis on the paint quality, color and design. The work is intended to imply writing and language that is unknown or unreadable, and make a correlation of action between the written and painted mark. I work with cut-out shapes to emphasize the painting as an object and make it more interesting to the eye than a rectangle. The “Symbol Henge” triptych utilizes three shapes that can be arranged in a variety of ways, as do “Shift Shaper” and “Scrabble Letter”. “Dance Music” is a mobile with a day and a night side.
